Correlating Renaissance Place Capabilities with Renaissance User Permissions

Prior to the start of the 2017–2018 school year, a person in the Renaissance Place database had one or more user roles, and these roles had default capabilities that determined what the person could and could not do in the program.

In Renaissance, a person now belongs to a single permission group, and the default user permissions associated with that permission group determine what a person can and cannot do in the program. (These defaults can be changed.)

See the expanding text sections below. The first table below lists (in alphabetical order) the Renaissance Place capabilities and the new Renaissance user permissions that perform the same function. The second table is the same, only the user permissions (in alphabetical order) are shown first.

Many of the capabilities have not changed in the transition, but in some cases separate capabilties have been merged into a single user permission and vice-versa. In addition, changes to the way Renaissance works have made some capabilities unnecessary—these have been eliminated (and are noted as such).
