Definition: Percent of students at or above a student growth percentile cut point, which shows growth relative to others in the same grade with a similar Star score history for that subject. Uses a student's earliest score in Fall to their latest score in the given window, regardless of screening window dates.
Default Cut Point: 35th percentile
Periodicity (time period): Periodic - calculates based on static growth percentile windows
Default Performance Levels:
Label | Criteria |
---|---|
High Growth | Student Growth Percentile ≥ 65 |
Typical Growth | 35 ≥ Student Growth Percentile < 65 |
Low Growth | Student Growth Percentile < 35 |
Possible Configurations:
- Admin User: None
- Schoolzilla support: Performance levels
District and School Metric Calculation:
Student Growth Percentile = |
Number of students at or above percentile cut point |
Number of students tested in the given window 1, 2 |
Notes
- The dataset includes students who took a Star assessment (excludes deactivated tests) and received a window-specific student growth percentile score in the given test period, compared to Fall (i.e., Fall-Fall, Fall-Winter, Fall-Spring). Schoolzilla’s metrics are always anchored on the Fall time period.
- The district result includes all students who met the above criteria.
- The school result includes all students who met the above criteria for scores earned and who were enrolled at that school during the given window.
- To calculate growth, the student result uses a student's earliest score in the Fall window to the latest score in the given window.
- Students who did not take the test are excluded from both the numerator and denominator of the district metric. Students who did not take the test will not show any data for the given window on Our Students and the Student Profile.
Student Level Metric: Student growth percentile
Source: Renaissance Star
Update frequency: Nightly
Note:
- Renaissance supports two different types of SGP: Current SGP and Windowed (or window-specific) SGP. This metric uses current SGP. This may cause questions and variation with RGP reports that use current and window-specific SGP.
- Student growth percentile windows are static. They are only calculated for Fall, Winter and Spring windows; whereas benchmark scores are calculated for each of the district's screening windows, which may be more numerous than three (e.g., Screening 1, Screening 2, Screening 3, Screening 4, Screening 5).
Growth Test Period Date Ranges Fall 8/1 - 11/30 Winter 12/1 - 3/31 Spring 4/1 - 7/31 - At this time, districts cannot choose which time period comparison the result reflects in Schoolzilla. For example, in the Spring, a customer cannot elect to have the result represent Winter to Spring growth or Spring to Spring growth instead of Fall to Spring growth. We use the window-specific student growth percentile score in the given test period, compared to Fall (i.e., Fall-Fall, Fall-Winter, Fall-Spring). Schoolzilla's metrics are always anchored on the Fall time period.
