Alignment Between Schoolzilla and CA Dashboard

If you're a CA school system, Mosaic is a great tool to help monitor progress towards metrics in the CA Dashboard. It's important to keep in mind that Schoolzilla is most useful as a tool to support continuous improvement throughout the school year, rather than a backward-looking accountability report.

Here’s an overview to help you better understand how Schoolzilla (SZ) aligns with the CA Dashboard.

State Indicator Schoolzilla Metric Key Notes about SZ Calculations and Features
Chronic Absenteeism Chronic Absence - % students absent ≥ 10% days

Academic Performance: ELA (3-8,11) ELA Average Distance From Met - Average distance from minimum Level 3 cut point

College / Career Indicator: AP Benchmark Met - % of test takers who scored 3 on AP exams in that school year
  • SZ metrics do not directly align with this complex indicator. SZ metrics for AP exams and course failures can be useful in tracking related metrics

Also, performance can be broken down by all the subgroups that are included in the CA Dashboard. Additional student demographic groups can be created if needed.
