Student Details Page

The Student Details page shows information about a specific student's test history, including the student's current Scaled Score, Percentile Rank, and a projection of what you can expect the Scaled Score to be at the end of the school year.

Although you selected a specific student's name to get to this page, you can change the student without having to go back to the Star Record Book. Select Change Student... and use the pop-up window to select a different student. (If you have access to more than one group, class, teacher, or school, you can make changes to those selections as well.) When you are done, select Apply.

Student Snapshot

The Student Snapshot section gives a quick summary of a student's performance based on their last Star assessment. The information shown will differ based on the type of assessment, but generally you will see the following:

Star Reading

The date of the latest test, the Scaled Score from that test (based on the scale selected in the Star Record Book), the student's ZPD, and, based on the setting of the Lexile® Measures preference, the student's Lexile® Measure.

Star Early Literacy

The date of the latest test, the Scaled Score from that test (based on the scale selected in the Star Record Book), the student's Literacy Classification, and the student's estimated Oral Reading Fluency (ORF).

Star Math

The date of the latest test, the Scaled Score from that test (based on the scale selected in the Star Record Book), and an estimate of the student's algebra readiness. Note: Algebra readiness will not be shown for algebra-only and geometry-only tests, or for the Enterprise assessment for students beyond grade 8.

For all three Star programs, you will see the Projected Scaled Score below the Scaled Score. This is Renaissance's research-based estimate of what the student's Scaled Score will be by the end of the school year. Based on national data, 50% of a student's academic peers met or exceeded this amount of growth (with peers defined as students in the same grade with a similar score history).

Current Performance

Current Performance is a graphical representation of the student's current status. The Scaled Score from the student's most recent test is shown, along with the Projected Scaled Score. These two scores are shown in relation to the benchmark (chosen in the Star Record Book and listed above the graph)—the names and colors of the benchmark categories are shown below the graph.

Assessment History

This section of the page shows the student's test history. For each Star assessment, the following information is shown:

  • The test date
  • The type of assessment (relevant test data which was imported also appears here)
  • The benchmark group the student's test score fell into at the time of the test
  • The Scaled Score on the test
  • The student's Percentile Rank based on the test score

Only completed and deactivated tests will be shown in the assessment history. This includes failed practices, which appear as completed tests without a score.

If you select Actions in the Actions column, you will see a Deactivate link and a Mastery link (see the Related Topics on this help page).

Select Plan Instruction above the Assessment History to begin planning instruction for students in Planner.
