Secure Browser Preference

How do I get to this page?

  1. Log in to Renaissance.
  2. On the Home page, select your name in the upper-right corner. In the drop-down list, select Edit Preferences.

  3. On the Preferences page, select Secure Browser in the District Preferences section of the page.

Who can do this with default user permissions?

District Level Administrators

Do not set this preference to require the secure browser until the browser has been installed on all computers that will be used for testing. Once the preference is set to require the secure browser, students will not be able to take an assessment on a computer that does not have the browser installed.

This setting of this preference affects all Star Early Literacy, Star Early Literacy Spanish, Star Math, Star Math Spanish, Star Reading, and Star Reading Spanish assessments—it does not apply to Star CBM or Star Custom.

  1. After you select Secure Browser on the Preferences page, you will see your schools and the current setting of the preference at each school . Select Require to require a school to use the Secure Browser for Star assessments; remove the check mark if you don't want to require a school to use the Secure Browser.

    The setting for the preference in two schools is shown in a table. The Save Changes, Set All, and Undo Changes buttons are above the table.

    To set the same preference for all the schools shown at the same time, select Set All... , select Require , and then select Apply to All .

    The Set All button has been selected; the setting for all schools is in a pop-up window. The Apply to All and Cancel buttons are at the bottom.

  2. Select Save Changes .

  3. Select Back at the top of the page to return to the Preferences page.
