How does Assignments First Mode work?

Who can do this with default user permissions?

Assignments First Mode is a Freckle Premium Edition feature. Learn more

In Freckle, students have the option to practice on their own or complete assignments given to them by their teacher. Assignments First Mode allows teachers to ensure that students complete their work on assignments before practicing anything on their own.

Here's how it works:

  1. To turn on Assignments First Mode, select your name in the upper-right corner of the page and select Your Account.
  2. On the Product Settings tab, select Assignments First Mode:

You can also activate this mode by checking Assignments First Mode on the Assessments page.

With Assignments First Mode enabled, students will not be able to practice on their own until they finish all of their assignments. When they try to go in and practice on their own, they will see a pop-up prompting them to finish their assignments first:

The message reads: 'Please finish your assignments before practicing other things!' The 'Got it!' button is at the bottom.

Once students finish their assignments, they will be free to practice on their own as before.

Assignments First Mode is teacher-specific. For example:

Student Jason Garvey logs in to Freckle, and chooses between two classes: C. Hastin's (where Assignments First Mode is enabled) and A. Serrano's (where it isn't).

If Jason chooses Hastin's class, he will not be able to practice on his own until he either (a) finishes all of his assignments in Hastin's class or (b) leaves Hastin's class by logging out and then logging back in to Serrano's class.
