Question Types

In the Question Type preference, you can choose the format of the questions that your students see:

Free Response

This is also known as Open-Ended. The program will not display any answers for your students to choose from. Students use the keyboard to type the answer, then press Enter or return to go to the next problem.

Some levels cannot use Free Response, so they always use Multiple-Choice (even if Free Response is set as the question type). For a list of the levels, see Levels That Use Only Multiple Choice.

Multiple Choice

Your students will be shown three answers to choose from.

Multiple Choice Shortcut Keys

Use this option to define which keys on the keyboard will correspond to the left, middle, and right answer choices students will see.

  • The keys you can use are the alphabet keys.
  • You cannot use number or symbol keys.
