Reporting Parameter Groups
Reporting parameter groups are customized student groups that allow
you to focus your reports on students who meet specific criteria. A reporting parameter group can include students enrolled in the
school prior to a certain date and/or with a specific ethnicity, gender,
language, characteristics, and/or grade.
When you customize certain English in a Flash reports, you can select
or create a reporting parameter group to use on the report.
The Reporting Parameter Groups you create in English in a Flash are also
available in your other Renaissance Place Programs.
On the Reporting Parameter Groups page, you can set up or change a group
of students for which you want to print reports by selecting from the
following options.
To access the Reporting Parameter Groups page:
- On the Home page, select Other Math & Reading Apps.

- On the Other Math & Reading Apps page, select English in a Flash, then Reports.

- Select a report name.
- On the Report Options page, for the Reporting Parameter Group option, select Create New or Edit Selected.

- If you want to change a reporting parameter group that you have already created, select it from the drop-down list at the top of the page. (After you select a reporting parameter group, you can delete it by selecting Delete below the drop-down list; you only see the Delete button after you select an existing reporting parameter group.)

If you want to create a new reporting parameter group, enter a name.

- Reporting parameter groups can include any of the items listed below (select one to see a description). For ethnicity, gender, language, characteristics, and grade, check each item that you want to include (or use the select all or deselect all options under the category name).
-
If you are editing an existing reporting parameter group, the name of that group will appear here; you can change the group name if you wish.
If you are creating a new reporting parameter group, type the name for it in the blank field.
-
If you enter this date (or select it from the calendar), this group will be limited to students enrolled before that date.

-
You can specify each student's ethnicity when you add the student to the program or edit the student's information. For the reporting parameter group, you can select specific ethnicities and/or "Not Specified."

If this option is not available, it's because the Filter Reports by Ethnicity capability has been removed by your school administrator or district administrator.
-
Like ethnicity, a student's gender is specified when you add the student or edit the student's information. For a reporting parameter group, you can include female students, male students, and/or students whose gender is not specified.
-
Like ethnicity and gender, a student's primary language can be specified when you add the student or edit the student's personal information.
For a reporting parameter group, you can include students who speak certain languages and/or ones whose primary language is not specified.
If the student's primary language has been specified as Arabic, Chinese Cantonese, Chinese Mandarin, Chinese Unspecified, Haitian Creole, Hmong, Korean, Russian, Spanish, or Vietnamese, the English in a Flash Parent Report will include both an English and a translated version of the opening paragraph. For more information, see the English in a Flash Parent
Report.

-
If you want to specify characteristics in the reporting parameter
group, you must first assign the appropriate characteristics to
your student. The list shown on the Reporting Parameter Groups page includes custom characteristics that you may have added to the school (if this is allowed in your version of the software). Some characteristics are available for all schools. Other characteristics may have been added by an administrator or staff member.
When you create a reporting parameter group, you can specify
what characteristics you want included in the report. In the left column, you can
also choose to include students with any of the selected characteristics or to include only students who
have all of the selected
characteristics.

If this option is not available, it's because the Filter Reports by Characteristics capability has been removed by your school administrator or district administrator.
-
Like ethnicity, gender, and language, each student's grade can
be specified when you add the student or edit the student's information.
For a reporting parameter group, you can include students in specific
grades and/or students who are ungraded.
When you have finished choosing the criteria for your reporting parameter group, select Save to save your changes.
To exit the page without saving your changes, select Cancel.
Reporting parameter groups do not need to be limited to one category.
You can select options from among all of the categories to create a very
specific reporting group.
For example, you could set up a group that includes students who are
Hispanic, female, with a primary language of Spanish, who are Gifted and
Talented, and in grades 1, 2, or 3.
