More Information on the Lexile® Range Preference
Lexile® Measures are available in Accelerated Reader. Note that in many places, the software either shows both ATOS book levels and Lexile® Measures or allows you to select the scale to see (on reports). However, the Lexile® Range preference affects some areas where only one book level is shown.
Where can I see the Lexile® Measures in Accelerated Reader?
Many reports and dashboards include Lexile® Measures if you have chosen to show them using the scale setting for the report. Students using Accelerated Reader can also see Lexile® Measures alongside of ATOS book levels when they search for quizzes and view quiz information. Administrators and teachers see both levels on the Manage Books & Quizzes pages.
The Lexile® Range preference determines whether ATOS book levels or Lexile® Measures are used for book level restrictions and on some Accelerated Reader pages, such as the Accelerated Reader Record Book. Note that this setting will also affect reports for Star; see Lexile Range for more information about the range and Star reports.
How can I change the Lexile® Range preference?
Follow the steps below to change the Lexile® Range preference. District administrators can set the preference for all schools; school administrators can change the preference for their schools.
- On the Home page, select Accelerated Reader Independent Reading; then, select Preferences from the menu that opens. (You can also select Preferences from the Star Reading menu, or you can select your name and choose Edit Preferences from the menu that opens.)
- On the Preferences page, select Lexile® Range under the School Preferences.
- Your schools are listed. For each school, check the Use Lexile® Ranges box if you want to see Lexile® Ranges on Star reports that include Lexile® Measures and if you want to use Lexile® Measures instead of ATOS book levels for book level restrictions. Note that this setting will also affect reports for Star; see Lexile Range for more information about the range and Star reports.
If you want to use the same setting for all of your schools, select Set All above the table.
In the popup window, check the box or remove the check mark; then, select Apply to All. (You still need to save your changes.)
- Select Save Changes to save your settings. (Select < Back to go back to the Preferences page.)
