Setting Goals for Students
Follow the steps below to set goals for your students. You can then review student progress toward goals in some Accelerated Math reports, such as the Goal History Report. If you plan to set up teams for your students, you must set goals so that Accelerated Math can calculate team progress based on the team members' progress toward their goals. The Accelerated Math Goal-Setting Chart in the resources can help you set student goals.
Who can do this with default capabilities?
District Administrators, School Administrators, Teachers
On the Home page, select Other Math & Reading Apps. On the next page, select the green Accelerated Math tile (shown below); then, select Teams & Goals.
The Teams and Goals page will appear. If you have access to more than one school, use the School drop-down list to select the school you would like to set goals for.
Click Manage Goals on the left side of the page.
On the Manage Goals page, click the Class drop-down list and choose the class that you want to set goals for.
To choose the marking period for which you want to set goals, click the Class Marking Period drop-down list and choose the marking period. The students in the class will be listed.
Click Select Class Marking Periods to go to the Class Marking Periods Preference. In the bottom list on the preference page, click Select next to the marking periods that you want to use for goals for this class. (The marking periods cannot overlap.) Then, click Save to return to the Manage Goal page.
To set or change goals for your students, click in the blank fields for each student and type the goals.
The objective goal sets the number of objectives the students should master during the selected marking period.
The test % correct goal sets the average percent correct on test problems that students should try to achieve during the marking period; this goal must be at least 85%.
When you have finished, click Save.
Click Done to return to the Teams & Goals page.
After you set goals for your students, you may wish to set up teams for your students. The Goal History Report shows your students' progress toward goals. The Team Standings Chart and Team Status Report show team progress.
If you are using groups in the Assignment Book, all of the students' work counts toward their goals, whether it is for a group or the class as a whole.
